Good morning!
What difference does any of this sacrificial offering stuff make anyway? Truly, there’s a deeper mystery and perhaps the greatest challenge to our modern mindset. God isn’t finished with His means of intimacy. Even if we’re not doing them now, God is not finished with these Korbanot/offerings.Before we go any further, I have to give a shout out to four amazing college students, who gave up their evening from 4-10:30 p.m. last night in dynamic dialogue: discussing life, intricate details in the gospel of John on how to have an abiding relationship with Christ, the True Vine (John 15:1-7) and how to prevent the little foxes from eating the tender grapes growing from their fruitful life as part of God's vineyard (Song 2:15; Isa. 5:1-5; Matt. 21:33-43; Neh. 4:3; Lk. 13:32). I found myself smiling through the entire dinner as I watched them practically apply the truths of Unleavened Bread and their willingness to be obedient to the truths in God's Word...because God said so! I was blown away with a refreshing breath of air. And for the many students who didn't make it, due to prior commitments, I know that their hearts towards the Lord are identical. Wow. Amazing young people! And massive kudos to their parents, their pastors, and the Lord for doing such a refreshing work in their lives.
This morning, I'll finish up our week of study with some Scriptural evidence that there will be offerings/korbanot in the Messianic Era (Isa. 56:6-8; Zech. 14:16; Jer. 33:15-18; Eze. 43:18-46:24; Mal. 3:4; etc.); during the time of the 3rd Temple (Eze. 40-48).
When we open the pages of Ezekiel 40 - 48 chapters, and the small selection of Scriptures above, we see a prophetic vision of the third temple with sacrifices offerings and the Levitical Priesthood reinstated forever. All of God's laws/Torah will return to their original state. Korbanot/offerings will be offered again. No more confusion on the weekly Sabbath, Rosh Chodesh/head of the month, the feast days, the sabbatical year, the Jubilee, loving your neighbor as yourself...all of that is coming back in its full, restored and Spirit filled manifestations (Jer. 31:31-35). Why, you might ask? Because God's instructions for His people have never been burdensome (1 Jn. 5:3) and they are only pleasant instructions that lead us in the paths of peace/shalom (Prov. 3:17).
"Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace" (Prov. 3:17)
Unlike the students from last night's beach Bible study, when we disregard God's Word for what it says through our modern mindsets, we not only put a negative spin on God's economy, His heart, His plan, the Spirit, but we deny the instructive, eternal, unchanging Word of His Torah/instructions, the Prophets, and the greatest of all Prophets, Yeshua, the Word made flesh (Jn. 1:14).
As you head into this preparation day and continue your Passover celebration, may we live our lives as 'living sacrifices' (Rom. 12:1,2), esteeming one another better than ourselves (Phil. 2:3-5), daily offering ourselves up as sheep to the slaughter (Rom. 8:36,37), living our 'tamid offering' lifestyle as a sweet smelling aroma in His nostrils (Ex. 29:38,39; 1 Cor. 15:31) .
Chag Sameach Pesach
Shalom
