4.26.25 ~ 40 Days after the resurrection (Pt. 2)
Good morning!
On this 14th day of counting the omer, the 2nd week and the 7th day, we'll continue our journey with the risen Messiah during His 40 days before His ascension. Each encounter gives us an opportunity to put ourselves in the shoes of the people He met. These meetings aren't random! Neither is the encounter you're having with Him right now! On this Sabbath morning, my hope is that you'll stop to think about how He's enountering you. Pause. Reflect. Align yourself with Him, and follow.
After His garden encounter with Mary Magdalene, He strolled down the road to Emmaus where He found two disciples walking away from Jerusalem; away from the chaos, away from the cross. They had hoped Yeshua would redeem Israel, but he was dead and along with His death, their hopes. But then, as if it was out of nowhere, a stranger walked beside them, not recognizing, not announcing, just present, and as they poured out their confusion, He didn’t rebuke them. He opened the scriptures verbally to them. He walked them through the law, the prophets, the psalms all pointing to himself, their heart burned within, but their spiritual eyes remained blind until he broke the bread. And suddenly, in the breaking of that bread, they saw Him (Lk. 24)!
Why these moments? Why not a grand return to the temple? Could it be that He wasn't interested in spectacle? He was after restoring souls (Psa. 19:7). He didn’t come back to the world just to say hi. He came back from the dead to win the wounded. His first moves after rising didn't move toward thrones or politicians, they were toward pain, toward broken hearts, lost minds and paralyzed faith. The emotional healing at His first appearance is more than scriptural storytelling revealing the nature of God...oh it's much more! Yeshua didn’t rise only for history's sake, He rose to meet people where they are alone in gardens, disillusioned on roads, locked in fear behind closed doors.
Is the chaos around you, in this world, affecting your ability to see Him? Possibly disillusioned with the way you think it's supposed to be? You're not alone! He's walking with you on your road. He's opening up the Scriptures beginning with Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms. Unfortunately, all the intellect in the world won't open eyes beyond physical circumstances. This happens when you sit down to break bread with Him.
Happy 14th day of counting the omer and Shabbat shalom!
