4.28.25 ~ 40 days after His resurrection (Pt. 4)

Good morning!

Welcome to the 16th day, the 3rd week and 2nd day, of counting the omer :-)!

I woke up at early:thirty this morning with my mind going a hundred miles an hour. Contemplating. Meditating. Praying. And marveling at God's Word while taking a helicopter view of all that was still going on during the 40 days Yeshua made His resurrection known. Sometimes, and unfortunately, I get so focused on the narrative that I forget what's still going on everyday in Jerusalem; the cock still crows every morning, the daily offerings, the poor still beg, the lighting of the menorah twice daily, the incense offering twice daily, the government still keeping a watchful eye on the followers of Yeshua, the religious leaders still trying to squelch the renewing of the covenant, millions still celebrating the Feast of Unleavened Bread...Religious and political fear tactics fill the air! As I said, sometimes, I get lost in the narrative and forget all the daily routine of what was going on in the Temple and people's lives. Most of all, I think we all forget that millions of people were counting the omer all over the world (Lev. 23:15,16). Hence, the millions of people from all over the world who showed up at Pentecost, as recorded in Acts 2.

Let's keep our 40 day thinking moving forward :-) If you were Yeshua, the King of the Jews, The Resurrected Savior,  The High Priest after the order of Melchezedek, who would you reveal yourself to first? Thankfully, He chose the forgotten, the grieving, the doubting, the hopeless...because resurrection isn’t about proving a point, though it did, it's about restoring people; and even now He still meets us like that today in preparation for our resurrection day.

Is it possible that you feel like you’ve been walking your own road of confusion, disappointment, uncertainty of where Yeshua is in your pain? Or maybe you’ve been weeping in the garden of your own thinking the tomb is the end of your story? But, as we learned in yesterday's study, He may be walking right beside you opening up the Torah, the Prophets and Psalms to you. You know what He is saying is true. Your heart burns inside as the Scriptures are unveiled (Lk. 24:32), but your eyes won't be opened until you sit down with Him and break Unleavened Bread with Him (Lk. 24:30). Slow down! Sit down! He will slow down and sit down with you. He will break bread with you, but only at your invitation (Lk. 24:29). It's then that your eyes will be opened to the truth...and then 'poof', He'll disappear (Lk. 24:31). Oh no, what do you do next? What He trained you to do: Go share your testimony with the others who haven't seen what you've seen; who haven't experienced what you've experienced (Lk. 24;33-35).

You know, this part of the resurrection story wasn’t written for theological curiosity alone, it was written for the human hearts from a Savior with scars still visible, appearing not to impress, but to embrace. Do you remember the last time He met you personally? No, not through a preacher. Not through a platform. But in that contemplative moment. In the breaking of something familiar?

Maybe this 16th day of counting the omer will be your walk to Emmaus Day. Maybe today will be the day when your eyes are opened. Our hearts always burn when we hear the Scriptures, but do we really see?

Praying for each of you that we will all see.

Happy 16th day of counting the omer!!

Shalom,
Alan
