5.16.25 ~ 40 days Past His Resurrection (Pt. 21)
Good morning!
Welcome to the 34rd day, the fourth week and fifth day counting the omer. It's one day past Lag B'omer (33rd day); which I didn't highlight for you, but it truly is a significant day with a marital them to live each day by...now, as I think about it, maybe will touch on that next week as we move closer to Shavuot/Pentecost; the anniversary of God's wedding to Israel (Ex. 19-24).
For now, let’s come back to Yeshua's last moments on earth; the disciples staring up into the sky, most likely in stunned silence, and then two angels appear beside them and say something that split history...
"This same Yeshua, who has been taken from you into heaven will come back in the same way." (Acts 1:11)
He’s coming back. This isn’t just a farewell. It’s a promise. The ascension wasn’t the last glimpse of Yeshua. It was the preview of the next return.
The clouds that hid him one day, will be the same clouds that manifest His return where every eye will see him; not with pierced hands lifted saying goodbye, but with a sword in His mouth fire in his eyes and a crown on his head (Rev. 19)...however, before we get to His return, please don’t miss this: before He left, He blessed them. That was the final act of the earthly Yeshua.
He didn’t just ascend. He spoke life over them. A Priestly act ,a father’s gesture, the same Yeshua, who bled for them, taught them, forgave them, blessed them, and that matters because some of us feel like Yeshua has disappeared from our situation. You followed Him, trusted Him, worshiped Him, and suddenly the skies are empty, and the voice is silent...but hear this: if He seems to have ascended from your view, He did not leave without leaving a blessing behind, and He did not leave without a return promised in heaven‘s book. Which begs us to ask the question: "So what do we do between the cloud and the crown? Between His going and His coming"? The answer is in Acts 1:8; just before Yeshua ascended, He said you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you will be my witnesses. That was the plan! Heaven watched, while earth was commissioned.
It was a profound moment, the son of God being taken into the heavens, but the angels don’t marvel at his return, they immediately redirect the disciples, gaze back to earth. Huh? "Why do you stand looking into the sky?" In other words you have a job to do. Yeshua ascended so his Spirit could descend. He left so he could fill the world through you. That's why the ascension matters today; it's not just theology, it’s invitation. It’s not just about what Yeshua did. It’s about what we do now. We live in the space between the promise and the fulfillment between Acts 1 and Revelation 22. And how we live now reflects whether or not we truly believe in His return, so if you really are sure that He is at the right hand of God, if He really is coming back, if He really did bless His people and call them to go, what are we still waiting for?
This isn’t the time to sit in comfort. It’s the time to move in power. This isn’t the time to gaze at the sky wondering when he will fix the world, it's the time to be his hands and feet in the world. He already redeemed. The ascension was the final act of Yeshua earthly ministry, but the first act of our calling He handed the mission to us not because He needed us, but because He chose us and so we go with power with purpose, with our eyes fixed, not just on the cloud, but on the crown because He’s coming again; just as He left, and when He does, the sky won’t be silent!
Happy preparation day and Shabbat shalom!
