5.20.25 ~ Our Daily, Earthly Wedding
Good morning!
The world we are passing through is like a wedding. Huh?Welcome to the 38th day, the 5th week and the 3rd day of counting the omer. Will this day be like the limiting experience of a wedding? Ahh, yes. As Ricky would say to Lucy, on the "I Love Lucy Show" decades ago, "let me splain" :-).
A wedding may seem like a limited and costly experience, yet it is precisely this limitation that allows you to reach your deepest potential, and what is more, lifts you on the wings that draws you closer to the Creator (Ex. 19:3,4; Deut. 4:9, 33-36; 32:11,12; Isa. 63:9; Rev. 12:14). The same is true, if we really think about it, concerning the world we pass through. Our journeys in this world may seem so restrictive and stressful, filled with agony, hardships, and pain. In paradise, there is no trauma; on earth, who can escape some form of abandonment? Even the most blessed life, as we discussed yesterday, is filled with the anxiety of the soul confined in our physical body (Farmer & City girl).
Yet you have to know that it is through the work in this world that the soul reaches its deepest potential and experiences radical, infinite, and growth to the Highest Calling of our faith (1 Pet. 1:9; Matt. 16:24-27; Heb. 10:35-39; etc.).
It is our journey here on earth that affords us the opportunity, each moment, to choose transformation, to choose trust, to confront our wounds and surrender to the all-pervading reality of the Lord our God.
In this world, we can become completely one with God through an ongoing relationship with Him, every moment, with every thought, word, and deed (Jn. 17:9-19). We get to perform His commandments/mitzvot and saturate the world we live in with the truth of His Torah (Jn. 17:17; Psa. 19:7-9; 119:151,152; 1 Pet. 1:22,23; etc.). This can only happen in this world. Welcome to the delight of a daily wedding :-)
Grab every commandment/mitzvah that you can do in this world, each one serves as a channel for experiencing a facet of God. Cherish every moment you have. Because what may look like a fleeting and insignificant moment to you is really like a wedding, it is a gateway to the deepest of the deep and the holiest of the holy. Every moment we reveal the holiness and goodness planted in our soul and our world carries within it the most awesome potential; the potential for the deepest unity, to become One with His essence (Rom. 8:29).
Grab every opportunity to do the work, the work of inner refinement and healing, with authenticity, emotional vulnerability, and connection, the work of finding God in your Torah study and keeping of His commandments/mitzvot, and in every moment of our day and night, becoming a beacon of light and love for others.
In last night's study, I shared the importance of counting the weekly days leading to Shabbat; the weekly counting of the omer (for soul refinement), the 7 year shemitah where the land gets the Sabbath rest, the 7 seven year periods leading up to the 50th year/jubilee where everything is restored to its original condition...all of these are designed for life on earth. Welcome to 'groundhog day' where the wedding can happen daily. May that be true of each of us today and every day! And, may the scariest verses in the Bible never be true of us (Lev. 26:21, 23, 24, 27, 28, 40 & 41).
Shalom!
