7.26.25 ~ Pick up the Phone

Good morning!

This week's Torah portion, Matot, is filled with pertinent information for our spiritual journey in this physical world. The timeless 42 progressive stops in the wilderness journey and the apportioning of the land of the inheritance are paralleled perfectly in our own journeys.

In last night's zoom call we connected the term for tribes/matot in Numbers 30:1,2. The term for one individual tribe is mateh. In our study we identified several wonderful qualities of the individual tribe,  mateh, with Moses and Aaron's rod/mateh. Scripture purposefully connects terms like this to help us learn how to live holy, set apart lives, on our journey from deliverance to entrance. Get your Bible and notebook. you'll want to take notes and reflect deeply on your spiritual status within your personal journey.

This morning, before our zoom call, I want to run a parallel thought for you to encourage you into a deeper and more dependent walk with the Lord and encourage you to faithfulness and fruitfulness; the determining factors of your inheritance in the age to come.

Every believer in Jesus/Yeshua has been called to holiness (1 Pet. 1:15,16; Lev 11:44; Lev 19:2; Lev 20:7; Amo 3:3). It’s God’s call to each of us, and our responsibility to pick up the 'phone' and follow His voice where He instructs us to go (John 10:28). The Apostle Paul reminds us of the basic call to holiness in his instructions to the Corinthians (1 Cor. 9:24-10:12). He intimates our journey, our spiritual race, in parallel fashion with the Israelites journey from Egypt to the Promised Land.

Let me highlight some of it for you:

Them/then                                                              Us/now

Defeat the Giants                                    Defeat Eph. 6:10-12 powers

You may have noticed with these comparisons that quite a few of the realities haven't taken place in your life, yet :-). It's a journey. It's a race. It's a walk of faith. This is just a snippet of our journey, with the paralleled 42 stops, but it’s significant to see and take inventory on where you are. All along this journey of holiness, separating from our past enslavement to this world system, God is calling us to the place where we agree in Covenant with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; learn His ways, and practice them with Him and towards one another. Then ultimately, through practicing the ‘covenant terms’, learning how to dance with our ‘Bridegroom King',  moving as one, we come to trust Him more and more, gaining confidence to take what He promised us at the beginning of our Journey…the Land of our inheritance.

Each step of our journey has additional information given to help us become conformed to His image. Yahweh Elohim, the Lord our God, has proven Himself greater than all the gods of Egypt (10 plagues). He flexed His Spiritual muscles and the whole world came to recognize that He alone is the Supreme God/Elohim (Ex. 3:15-18; 4:5; 10:2; 14:4). He delivered them out of bondage and sanctified, set them apart (Ex. 31:13). He provided for their daily physical needs as they traveled through the wilderness by giving them ‘angel’s food’, bread from heaven, and living water (Ex. 16,17). He gave the Israelites the best ‘health care’ program ever…no one was sick, lame, blind, or weak. He wooed their heart through His power, His provision, and then when it came time for them to make their confession to identify with the Holy One, their hearts were more than willing to say, ‘whatever you desire, we will do (Ex. 19:8; 24:3,7; Deut. 5:27,28; Josh. 24:24; etc.). At Mt. Sinai, Israel and all those who joined with them experienced the first recorded Shavuot/Pentecost (Ex. 18-24) and it was here that they said, ‘we will be holy even as you are holy’.

Each of us is on this journey. You’re either in Messiah or not. If  you’ve spiritually applied the blood of the Lamb to the doorpost of  your life, you are in Christ/Messiah and part of His people. You’ve been given ‘permission’ to leave your past behind! You’ve been given the comforter to guide you into all truth. Yes, there will be tests along the way, but there is His presence to reassure you of the victory in the promises. Your journey, out of necessity, must take you through baptism, daily discipline of hungering and thirsting for Him, and a trip to the ‘Chuppah’, wedding canopy, where you make your confession to ‘love, honor, and cherish’ your Bridegroom. This is a significant resting place. It’s here you learn His heart and how to move as ‘one’; literally it is here you learn to 'dance with the Star'! Here, He will call you to something greater than yourself – the battle for the Land.

It’s a progressive call of holiness! It’s a free call. It doesn’t cost you a ‘dime’ to answer the call. It may cost you everything to follow His instructions to the end! Excuse me, the phone is ringing again…

Shabbat Shalom and happy 7th day of counting towards the first fruit of the oil! The annual stop, the Feast of Tabernacles is coming :-)
