7.4.25 ~ To God be the Glory

Good morning!

Happy preparation day on this 34th day of counting towards the first fruit of the wine, Happy 4th of July, Happy BDay Mehar in Pakistan,  and Shabbat shalom!

This week we have devoted ourselves to insights towards the 'forgotten Miriam'. Tonight on our zoom call at 8:00 p.m. EST, before the fireworks shows, 699 858 9149 we will compare Aaron's death and take a practical look at why Moses struck the Rock, rather than speaking to it; and the practical lessons for America after the passing of the "Big Bill" on Capitol Hill.

Yesterday, we examined Miriam's ability to watch and wait on the Lord.  Because Israel learned of Miriam's faith as a girl, they were able to 'employ' it at the Reed Sea/Yam Suf when they were, by God's design, placed in the same position that Moses was as a baby, threatened by an entire army. Yahweh says, in a matter of words,  'do you know what you're going to have to do to get out of this predicament'? Just as Aaron’s sister stood from afar to watch. Moses says, ‘you are going to have to watch too. Stop doing and start watching the salvation/yeshua of the Lord (Ex. 14:13). If you can stand and feel the fear and feel the desire to do all of these things and not do it, not even pray, but just say - put yourself in the hands of Yahweh and say, He can work this out in a way that I can't imagine, then in the impetus in the engine of that faith the sea can split (Ex. 14). Just like the day that the daughter of Pharaoh came and Miriam watched (Ex. 2), that's what you've got to do to make the sea split. You've got to be able to place yourself unconditionally in Yahweh’s hands, say I can't figure it out, but it can work out, and then the sea can split...easier said than done! But, once done, with hindsight it was easy!!

And the sea does split and then Miriam sings her song (Ex. 15). Why does Miriam sing her song? Because the Israelites have now been saved through what Miriam, the Prophetess taught them (Ex. 15:20). This is the Prophetess Miriam, this is Miriam's faith, and now Israel is acting and taking her lead and doing what she did so many years before (Ex. 2:1-4). What was her prophecy? Her prophecy is that my brother is going to end up being the deliverer of all the Israelite people. When did Moses, indeed, become the deliverer of Israel? Right now at the Red Sea. When the Egyptian army is destroyed and can no longer threaten them, that is the moment that Miriam's prophecy has been realized. It is now true, the prophecy has come true, and Miriam sings.

Not only does the prophecy come true but it has come true through what Miriam has taught the people. Through the faith which Miriam had, Israel is able to reflect on her action leading to the realization of her prophecy coming true.  Therefore Miriam says, figuratively speaking, everyone has sung their song but I haven't yet sung, this is my personal song, and she sings her song.

What happens next? They leave Yam Suf/the Sea of Reeds, and they travel for three days and they can't find any water. What's going on? Then they get to an oasis and they say water! But there's bitterness in these waters (Ex. 15:22-25). How do you feel at that moment? Here you are, how long can you last without water? Without divine intervention? About 3 days. Then as your throat is parched like the desert air, you finally get to the oasis only to find it's bitter. What does this remind you of? Go back to Miriam and Moses’ birth. You have a prophecy that a tov/good child is brought forth and makes the house full of light. But then you go three months and you can't hide this baby anymore. Then you put the child out in the river.  Then who should come, the daughter of Pharaoh. Yikerdoodles! Just at the moment that you think salvation is at hand. Uh oh, it's not at hand, it's desperation...Three days, no water. You go out of Egypt, everything is wonderful, but then you're locked by the sea and who should be behind you, the Egyptian troops, it's all over. Everything has been dashed. It's three days, you're starving, you finally see the oasis, it's bitter.

What's happening? It's all happening again. Because if you're in the desert - there's 2 - 6 million folks in the desert - how are they going to get water? There's not enough water in the desert for that many  people, you only get it miraculously. How do you get miracles in life? Only through faith. You've got to continually be able to keep up this tremendous level of faith, to place yourself in His hands. And if you can do that, He can reciprocate with miracles. So here Yahweh is doing it one more time, three more days, and the question is how will they come, what will they do? Will they say, 'here we are, we don't have water, we place ourselves in Your hands'? But they don't do that, instead they complain, what are we doing here, we should have gone back to Egypt. What happens? Yahweh says okay, 'it didn't work out this time, we tried, we'll give them a pass once, here's the stick, throw it in the water', and the water becomes sweet.

Then...They travel for three more days and there's no more water. It's happening again, it won't let up, you can only get water through faith. But this time they go to Moses and they scream at him and Moses says they're ready to stone me. The situation has spiraled out of control, it's just not working. What happens next? Yahweh says,'Okay, take the staff and go find a rock/tzur and hit the rock and water is going to come out of that rock'; eventually to be known as the well of Miriam. What does that mean? It means that Yahweh has 'thrown in the towel' and says you know what, fine, all of you can't have that faith, but Miriam's here, and Miriam will be your well.

Miriam's faith will be enough to carry you through, you can all be carried on the back of Miriam, she has the faith - the entire people can't have it. But I'm not going to do this again every three days! Beautifully, for 40 more years there's no more water crisis. Yahweh provides and there’s plenty of water. Why is there water? Because there's Miriam and Miriam was the one who taught them faith and Miriam has faith. And this continues for the next 38 years. No murmuring. No complaining. No whining, just faith...that is until Numbers 20, 38 years later, when Miriam dies. Miriam dies and what happens next? We'll continue tomorrow on Shabbat.

Scripture is notorious for providing for the masses, who lack faith, based on the merit of individuals who do have faith...that's a Good, Good God! Are you that person for the body of Messiah or do you know a person like 'Miriam'? Give God thanks for His grace in your life (1 Cor. 15:10) or take the time to give God the glory for that special person who is the conduit for God's goodness into your life.

Happy Independence Day. May you be 'independent' and set apart from the world system and dependent on the One Who has put you in it (Jn. 17:14-19).

Shalom,
Alan
