8.9.25 ~ Cleave. Which one? Yes
Good morning!
The Fall Feasts of the Lord are approaching rapidly! Harvest time is near. And in our Torah portion today, Va'etchanan/and I pleaded, this is a time of fresh insights/chokmah and binah/understanding how those insights fit into the big picture, followed by making the decision to internalize those insights to become a part of us/etzah. You would recognize these as being the first 3 Spirits of the 7 Spirits (Isa. 11:2,3). They also correlate perfectly with the first 3 moedim, which are interrelated to the last three that are coming soon.
This morning I want to be divisive to help you cleave. Huh? In this week's Torah portion it's all about separating from the nations and clinging to the Lord's ways. (Deut. 5;29)
Oh that there were such a heart in them that they would fear me and keep all my commandments always so that it may be well with them and with their children forever. (Deut. 5:29)
And by cleaving from the world's mindset, we now are in a position to cleave to the Lord and live.
But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day. (Deut. 4:4)
It's important to know that Yeshua/Jesus was divisive (Matt. 10:34-39)! He taught that a kingdom or house divided against itself could not stand, hence, He came to divide that ‘kingdom and house,’ (Jer. 1:10; Mk. 3:24,25). The creation story is very divisive (Gen. 1:2-2:3); but without it, no Sabbath rest. The developing ova à embryo à fetus à only grows through division; without it there is no independently functioning body (Eph. 4). Division carries two meanings. It’s a two-edged sword. It’s both positive and negative. Scripture is filled with these contranyms; especially in our English translations. One can ‘cleave’ to Yahweh (Deut. 4:4) or the Mount of Olives will ‘cleave’ in two at Messiah’s return (Zech. 14:4).
When Moses revealed to us the ‘creation story’ in Genesis 1 & 2, he wrote how Elohim divided the light from the dark, the heavens from the earth and the water from the Land (Days 1-3). Passover, in a similar fashion separated us from the bondage in Egypt/Mitzrayim. Unleavened Bread is the time where we separate from the ‘leaven’ in our lives. Firstfruits is the time to recognize that we’ve died with the coming Messiah and now it’s time to walk in the newness of life so that we can bring forth fruit according to the seed (Romans 6:2-11; Luke 8:11).
Division is part of the Lord our Gods/Yahweh Elohim game plan. It’s His way of revealing new truth in our lives to cause growth through division. When the Spirit brings fresh insights, aka wisdom/chokmah, He separates out a truth that becomes real to us…first light. He then instructs us on how it’s divided from everything else and how it's to be used as building blocks/binah. This truth was meant to be internalized/etzah, in order that it can ultimately bring forth fruit, individually and collectively.
The enemy, on the other hand, wants to create destructive division. By creating fear and insecurity, we divide over doctrinal issues, personal issues, and ultimately live the ‘island to ourselves’ mentality…leads to death of the organism.
The Spring is always about individual division! and the fall is about corporate inclusion! Personally, there will be all kinds of areas in our lives that will need to be divided. Some cut away and others multiplied. May we each have the discernment to know the difference. Are you beneficially divisive? I hope so! Are you defensively divisive? We all hope not.
It's time to divide and conquer the enemies' schemes!
Shabbat shalom!
Alan
