10.23.25 ~ My Choice
Good morning!
Have you seen the movie from Angel studios titled "Truth and Treason"? Would you die for a cause? Would you warn people with the truth no matter the cost? Would you be an individual who, though you didn't initiate the movement of truth telling that you'd join the cause regardless of the outcome. Would I be like Esther who said, "If I perish, I perish"...but I gotta do what needs to be done (Est. 4:16)? Would you be like David who put his life into his hand to slay the giant ((1 Sam. 19:5)? Would you be like Paul who said, "it doesn't matter, I just want to finish my race victoriously" (Acts 20:24)?
For me, I guess, it depends on the cause! Is the truth worth dying for (Lk. 9:24)?
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. (Lk. 9:24)
But what if you believe you will die either way? If you choose to stand up for the cause, you die. If you choose to not stand up, you die anyway; the mindset of Jacob in the possibility of losing another son (Gen. 43:14). What would you do if there didn’t seem to be any real choice? Or would you be oblivious to the truth all around you and ignore it as though it's not reality?
As with Nazi Germany, many would say, "What can I really do about this? If it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen.” It is almost as if the pagan idea of fate enters the equation. Almost . . . but not quite.
Contrary to many myopic opinions, the lens, pun intended, through which all events are seen is not destiny, fate, or predestination. The common mind believes that the plan is already drawn and all we do is live out a script. Those who are the seed of Abraham believe that God is at work in all of it but the purpose and meaning of events unfolds as the participants make choices. It might seem as if there isn’t any other way, but that’s only because we don’t know how the invisible hand of God works.
Laying in bed early this morning, reflecting on the movie and the courage to stand for truth, it seems to me that Jacob and Esther are a lot like the mindset of many We think there’s no real choice; if I perish, I perish...If I'm bereaved, I'm bereaved...Bad things happen either way. But the truth is we really don’t know. This is not a Hollywood script and it's not just a cinema presentation of a true story in the past. We are not actors and actresses. This is real . . . and flexible. If we're not going to take a page out of the bible to gain courage, maybe we should take a lesson from the three courageous boys who stood up against the third reich..."are you in"? Let's Go ahead and let God.”
Now it's time to personalize your own journey! It's a life choice, what will you do?
Shalom,
Alan
