11.7.25 ~ One Person
Good morning!
One person can make a difference in this world; either positively or negatively. A simple truth to keep in mind when you want to make a positive influence is to act quickly when the Spirit speaks to you...no delay. As a mentor of mine said, 'delayed obedience is disobedience.'
Tonight, we will have another wonderful zoom call on the choices we get to make in this world, either positively or negatively. We will talk about Mrs. Lot turning into a pillar of salt and the blessing of Abraham that rested upon Lot. Ultimately, we concluded that it is possible for one person to change the world...even if the action at first does not appear to be righteous (Gen. 19:30-38; Ruth 4:13-17; Matt. 1:1,5,6; Gal. 3:29).
Through the merit of Abraham, Lot was delivered out of Sodom before its destruction. When the two angels came to deliver him, Mrs. Lot, and his two virgin daughters, Lot lingered/mahah (Gen. 19:16).
In the Hebrew text, speaking of Hebrew...Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. in Stanton, Michigan I will host an all day class on how to read and write Hebrew with a potluck lunch sandwiched in the middle (pun intended). $10/person to pay for materials and support overseas ministries. Contact me for details :-)...back to our lesson...in the Hebrew text, there is a cantillation mark, like a lightning bolt, above the word 'he lingered'. That 'lightning bolt' symbol is like a siren. The cantor who would read the portion to the congregation would draw out the word like a siren, giving warning for the listening ear to learn a valuable lesson from Lot (Lk. 17:26-30)...when God speaks, don't linger.
What made Lot linger? What caused the delay in his mind? What hindered him from leaving Sodom? It was his wealth and prestige within the evil and sinful city (Gen. 13:13). Lot had chosen to depart from Abraham and the Ancient One, when he journeyed East/m'qedem toward the wicked and sinful city of Sodom. With his eyes lifted, he saw that the beauty of the city was like the garden of Eden (Gen. 13:10), and it was truly beautiful, but the people there were not beautiful (Eze. 16:46-56).
As it was in the days of Noah and as the days of Lot, so will it be in the coming of the Son of Man (Lk. 17:26-30). This morning I woke up early and, once again, I asked the Lord to empower me to become one of the men who will cause 10,000 to fall by my side (Lev. 26:8),
And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword. (Lev. 26:8)
not be one of the ones who is part of the 10,000 that flees at the enemies presence (Deut. 32:30)...I'm praying the same for you! BTW, it's easier to do it when there are others with the same mindset :-).
How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up? (Deut. 32:30)
There's no time to linger. It's time to become the 'one person' He's calling you to be!
Happy preparation day and Shabbat shalom!
